If it's a new computer then replacing a motherboard works out a lot cheaper than buying a new computer.

Unfortunately most peoples PC's are a number of years old and due to the advancement of technology replacing a Motherboard also means replacing the Processor and Memory, making the price nearly the same as a new PC.

Laptops are another story as all the components are usually contained on the motherboard and in most cases the price difference between repair and replacement is negligible..
